ABOUT THE CREATOR OF
THE 2 SECONDS
Hi, my name is Caroline.
Like many other students, I find myself studying, playing sports, participating in clubs, and spending time with my friends. Throughout high school, I wanted to make a difference in the lives of other people.
When I was learning to drive, I witnessed too many people driving distracted. I felt so uncomfortable, not because of my own driving abilities, but because of the actions of the drivers around me. I founded The 2 Seconds to try to make fewer new drivers feel the same way I did. I want to create a driving environment that is safe for everyone.
I cannot wait to make the roads a safer place with your help.
ABOUT
THE 2 SECONDS
Learning to drive is scary. Distractions are everywhere. No matter how safe you drive, it is difficult to change the actions of the drivers around you. It is difficult to feel comfortable when learning to drive when drivers around you are not paying attention.
I created The 2 Seconds with the intention to make the roads a safer place, and to eliminate texting and driving. The title -- The 2 Seconds -- was picked to emphasize that it only takes 2 seconds to get distracted and cause an accident. The 2 Seconds has created and collected materials to inform drivers of the dangers of texting and driving. The 2 Seconds is a yearly curriculum program implemented into The Madeira School community to teach and inform new drivers of all the dangers that texting and driving causes. However, all the materials implemented into the curriculum at The Madeira School can be found here, on The 2 Seconds website. Anyone can use these materials to inform themselves about the dangers of texting and driving.
Be sure to explore the pages linked at the top of this website to learn more about how to make the roads a safer place for all drivers, new and comfortable drivers alike.
The Data and Tools page contains texting and driving data. This data is important to understand how dangerous texting and driving is. Also on this page, there are 10 tips and tricks on how to prevent texting and driving in your life.
The materials created and implemented into The Madeira School community can be found on the Materials page. One of the materials that can be found on this page is the Contract. For new drivers and their parents to hold each other accountable, this contract can be used. Also on this page, you can find interviews that were conducted with experienced experts, videos that share important information about texting and driving, hypothetical situations, and discussion questions.
The Partners page shows the partners that Caroline communicated with when creating this project. You can find these partners’ experience on that page.
With these materials, let’s make the roads a safe place together!
